Share Your Strength – Omaha Women’s Triathlon Mentoring Program
Are you new to triathlon? Coming back after a couple of years off? Have completed a few but would like some advice? We want to make sure that you are fully prepared for race day. You will get an 8-week beginner or intermediate training program created by USAT Certified Triathlon coaches for the Omaha Women’s Triathlon on Saturday, June 3rd. You will also be paired up with a mentor who has done several races and has some valuable experience to share. We are also planning events leading up to race day to get to meet each other in person and hear some inspirational stories and learn about training, nutrition, and more. There is no cost for the program, but you must be registered for the Omaha Women’s Triathlon/Duathlon/5K Run.
More details and program registration will be made available soon, but if you are interested in the Share your Strength Mentoring Program you can contact Melanie Chapman at mmchapman@unomaha.edu.
Interested in becoming a mentor?
Who is a mentor? We have several current Team Nebraska Triathlon (TNT) members with various triathlon experience willing to mentor new people into this great sport.
What is the role of the mentor? Mentors will give advice on questions, provide weekly check-in on your training progress, and offer tips and motivation. All abilities, interests, and experiences are welcomed to be a mentor – you will receive training and tips on how the mentoring program works. Your role is to become the support needed to get to race day; you will also have support to help you become a mentor. If you want to share your experiences with new triathletes, contact Melanie Chapman at mmchapman@unomaha.edu.
